I was watching a Japanese show on their obsession with robotics. I mean, these guys are doing some serious stuff.
One was riding a tricycle mimicking human movement and another could actually walk just like humans do getting everything correct form the first step of walking which is known as the contact pose.
Another was a noodle making robot installed in a Japanese restaurant that did everything form actual cooking to serving the customers. While it was not working, it entertained diners with clever stunts such as spinning a plate on its arms.
I think in the near future, the robotics industry will blow when when it will be economically viable to mass produce robots for various uses like helping in the house, pets, drivers, pilots and many other uses.
This will only be true once the robotics foundation is properly laid, just like computing and the internet started out as slow, ineffective to what we witness today. The robots the Japanese create are very expensive today and are not a very viable for trade. The makers just construct them for display and research.
Hopefully, we hope the story that is told in the Matrix Trilogy movies will not prove to Happen.
Big up all you robotics creators. The age of transformers is not very far off.

Democracy, Corruption, and Politics in Kenya & Africa

The west insistence of enforcing democracy in African countries is misguided. In Afriaca unlike the U.S. or Europe, democracy can't just be established firmly before some various issues have properly been sorted out. The main issue is grand corruption by governments.
This is the main stepping stone the western countries should try to weed out through encouraging reforms because no Government that is squandering its citizens money would let democracy see light of the day.
The second issue is Aid. western countries simply think that aid is the way to get Africa out of the poverty abyss it is in. In fact, the thing western countries should do is encourage trade. They should lean less on aid because this is what perpetuates corruption in the first place.

My Gaming History Part 2

This is a continuation from last weeks story of my gaming history. I finished with where i had just played Colin McRae rally and the game had just blown me away totally. I wondered what i would do on this earth just to acquire this evidently powerful piece of hardware and the racing game out of this world.
I would later go on to acquire the hardware and play great games like Crash Bandicoot series which i personally rate very highly.
Years Later, the PlayStation 2 arrived and the gaming scenario had changed. Sony not only totally distorted the reality of gaming forever, but had finally ignited the spark that would send the console market wars to the stratosphere.
Later, The likes of Nintendo, Xbox, Xbox360 and PlayStation 3 would firmly establish gaming as a viable and vibrant industry akin to The movie industry.

Neo: "I know what you are trying to do!" Morpheus: "I am trying to free your mind Neo. But I can only show you the door. You are the One that has to walk through it. You have to let it all go Neo, Fear, doubt and disbelief. Free your mind!" Morpheus: "There is a difference between knowing the path and walking the path."

Social media

I am a big fan of social media. From facebook, to twitter, to blogspot. All these are powerful tools that can be easily used to disseminate information, improve your business or career e.t.c. if used correctly.
Be it that you are in the music industry, movies, gaming comics etc... you can not avoid riding in the storm of social media.

My Gamming History
What are some of the greatest games you have ever played? I remember as a kid , i discovred my passion of gaming when i saw a minature box with a screen whose name i cant remember. It had a sinlge game of Helicopters and Tanks. It was a present form my dad and i remeber playing it for hours on end and exhausting hundred of batteries.
As i grew up gamming kept advancing pace by pace, and in an age of no internet in africa, i reminded my father to come with the latest gamming magazines wherever he visited the big city, Nairobi.
My first conslole which had a replacable catridge was known as Ending Man (What a title for a gaming cosole). Obviously it was a cheap Knock-off from China imitating giants of the time like the Snes (Super Nintendo Entertainment system) but it kept me entertaind for years nevertheless. My favoright game for the Em was first of all, the legendary Super Mario Bros.
followed by a fighting game of ninja turtles.
The Gameboy came but it was very expensive to aquire. No right thinking parent from an upcountry town (i came from a tourist town called nanyuki) would buy his child a "Toy" Whose price tag could feed a family or two for something like a year. That was the preserve of rich politician parents and prominent business men (and women if there were any). So, about the original Gameboy, i dont have any treasured memories of it.
Next was the real Snes, Sega genesis, Sega Sarturn before the Big Big landing Of the Almighty Playstation. I remember the first tiem i played it (at a neighbours house), i did not get sleep for almost 3 weeks. All i did after palying and going home late for mums butt thrashingwas to fantisize at this great piece of technology. The my neigbor had was Collin Mcrae rally, and at the time it was something out of this world...
Continues next week.
